Segway has launched the S-Pod, a new self-balancing two-wheeler wheelchair which moves at a speed of up to 24 miles per hour.
The S-Pod has the same power as the Segway itself and unlike the traditional self-balancing vehicle which is driven by leaning towards a certain direction, it is controlled with a joystick.
This technology is expected to allow for sudden changes in direction, allowing for ease in mobility throughout crowded areas. The company behind the technology said that this new product took inspiration from the gyrosphere from Jurassic World in the way that it hits the open-air S-Pod’s top speed of 24 mph.
The new product is expected to be launched in the third quarter of 2020 and that it will begin to be sold to the public by 2021, however the price of the S-Pod has not yet been disclosed.
