The 2nd edition of Smart Cities World Forums was held on December 11th at the Meydan Hotel, Dubai, UAE, under the theme “Building the SMART Future”. The event offered the attendees the opportunity to know more about all aspects of smart cities and meet leaders in this particular field. Smart Cities World Forums spoke to Eng. Mohammed Alsharif, Program Director Madinah Smart City, AlMadinah AlMunawara Development Authority, who explained the Authority’s role in accelerating digital transformation in the Kingdom.

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has launched a Dhs590m ($160.6m) project to manage its smart traffic system with the aim of containing bottlenecks and accidents through a control center which will be built in Al Barsha.
His Excellency Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), announced that DEWA has installed 595,755 smart water meters across Dubai. This is 80.6% of the total number of water meters in the Emirate, with all water meters in Dubai to become smart meters by the end of next year. The announcement was made at the 20th Water, Energy, Technology and Environment Exhibition (WETEX 2018), which DEWA is organizing at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre from 23-25 October 2018.
